October 7, 2006 - A woman pours maize into a basket in Tetugu camp for internally displaced people, or IDP, near Gulu in north Uganda. Tetugu, with a population of 22,000, is one of 76 IDP camps around Gulu, the main base for the Uganda Peoples Defense Force fighting the insurgent Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army. Kony's LRA movement has been fighting for the past 20 years to force the East African country to be ruled according to the Christian Ten Commandments. Over 2 million people, mostly of the Acholi tribe, have moved or were forced to move from their villages to camps close to the towns of Gulu, Lira, and Kitgum where they are watched over by the Ugandan Army. The LRA rebels have abducted thousands of children and have forced them to fight against the Ugandan Army and the Acholi people. Current peace talks between Kony's LRA and the Ugandan government held in Juba, southern Sudan, offer a glimpse of hope to ending this ongoing conflict..(Photo by Jakub Mosur/Polaris)<br />
